So, you're stuck with the little one and no one else is around? Uh-oh, what's that smell? It's coming from junior's diaper! What's a man to do?

There are many guides available for infant and early childhood care. Parents should read as widely as possible to ensure their child's well-being. However, there may be times when no one else is around to do the work that one may claim to do on a regular basis, but secretly has never done. One thing that many fathers have never actually done is a thing dreaded by many – changing their kid's diaper. Sigh.

So what are the steps a man can take in such a drastic situation? Fathers may need emergency help, and in such a case here is a good method of procedure.

Take off the Baby's Onesy and Diaper

Before one will be able to actually change the baby's diaper, the onesy will need to be removed. The onesy is that article of clothing that the baby is wearing that will usually have buttons or zippers on it. The onesy will have to be unbuttoned or unzipped in order to reach the diaper area.

Next, the diaper changer will need to unclasp the diaper and dispose of it respectively. One word of warning that the diaper changer should be aware of is that this may be somewhat of an ordeal during the first few diapers that are changed. The reason is because the diaper might contain fecal matter that really stinks. So take off the diaper gently and dispose of it in a sanitary waste bin.

Throw the Baby in the Shower

There are many forms of sanitary wipes that the male diaper changer could probably use, but many male diaper changers may not know where they are located. In such a case, emergency action must be taken. The quickest and easiest method is to find a soft pillow or towel (or even a piece of styrofoam) and place the baby on it within the shower. Run warm water and shower off the entire baby, especially the baby's dirty butt. This writer finds that a suitable baby shampoo is best in such cases.

The best way to wash a baby's butt is with a soft sponge or soft washcloth. Make sure the shower water is warm and that the butt area is completely rid of fecal matter. The best way to do this is to sponge the baby with the soap on the cloth or sponge and then raise the baby's legs while it is lying on its back in the direction of the shower stream, and then let the shower water spray directly onto the baby's butt area.

Get a Clean Diaper and Fresh Onesy

After the baby's dirty butt is clean and freshly showered, the diaper changer will need to remove the baby from the shower and dry it off with a clean towel. Remember to be gentle during this procedure.

Next, one will need to either find a fresh diaper, or simply put on a fresh onesy. If a fresh diaper is located, one should undo the diaper attachments, put the baby's butt on the diaper, and then re-attach the diaper around the baby's waste area.

That is really all there is to changing a diaper. If these steps are performed in order, the male diaper changer will have success and may even hold a sense of pride at doing a hard job well.
